A call from my landlord

“You receive a call from an unexpected person. Who is it, and what is the conversation about? Go!”

I received a call from my landlord. He never calls me. I often look for him but never see him anywhere. Some would argue that I’m lucky. Landlords who nag are never a good sign. But then again, there’s a kind of mystery into trying to look for my landlord when I need to pay him. It’s almost too funny.

So he went on to say the usual courtesies, “Good afternoon, this is __, your landlord. Just reminding you of your bill, which is __ pesos.”

“Hello, Sir ___,” I mutter almost unsure of this phone call’s existence. Of course, I knew it was him. I saved his number a long time ago. “Okay, I was looking forward to seeing you sometime this week about the bills. And I also want to talk about our faucet — I think it’s leaking.”

“Sure,” he said. “I’ll be down there in a minute.”

In a minute? That means he’s just upstairs. So he really is here. Right now. And will be talking to me. In the flesh.

I almost can’t believe it. There’s no life lesson here today folks. Just an unbelievable occurrence on an ordinary day. 🙂
