I was supposed to make a blog post about making reading a habit again. But I thought, what for? What are people going to learn or be inspired about if I discuss making reading print books a habit again?
This was supposed to be the image for the “making reading a habit again” post. But let’s be real, I crammed everything today and instead wrote about that. #win
So I stopped in my tracks, deleted the whole article, and rewrote the one you’re reading right now.
I plan to post this before the day ends. Time check, it’s already 9:15 pm. So what did I do with the past 21 hours? I was procrastinating.
First of all, I did not wake up right. I woke up late. As you might know, I have a new baby. Waking up early in the morning just makes it twice the struggle for a non-morning person who just had approximately 2-3 hours of sleep.
Second, even though I knew time for myself was limited because of my baby’s needs, I would unwisely spend the time I have left for consumption. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with consuming motivational videos on YouTube or reading your favorite blogs. But, if you’re on a mission to start something that might take time, it does help to actually spend your time doing tasks related to that mission.
So the biggest lessons I’ve learned from trying to cram this post by the end of the day:
1. Wake up early.
2. Manage your time wisely.
There you have it. I thought about explaining each lesson in depth, but what’s the point? There are a thousand articles on the Internet that can explain how to wake up early and manage your time wisely better than I ever could. The best advice to making these tips happen is simply to do them.
Tomorrow is another day, my friend. Will you make the same mistake again and cram or will you go for it and fight your way towards discipline? The choice is yours.
