Recognizing the importance of setting intentions, a line from Jen Carrington’s blog post reads, “You, of course, want to be speaking directly to [your dream clients and customers].” Jen refers to “speaking directly” as speaking to the client’s goals, dreams, fears, and values among others.
Jen Carrington is a successful content coach, blogger, and podcaster. The third post on her blog is about writing content that shares your message to dream clients.
It is important in business to be direct but also to be intentional as well. Intentions are the backbone of human interaction and business, at its core, is a form of interaction between two human beings. Being intentional means being aware of your purpose and knowing how to focus on that.
Speaking to the other person’s goals and aspirations entails getting to know her/ him. It involves going deeper into the conversation. Finding out the other person’s goals and fears help us understand how to approach the situation to be able to set the right intentions.
I agree with Jen in saying we need to be able to speak directly to someone’s goals, dreams, fears, and values. It shows that we care and we want some kind of quality out of the interaction. It isn’t just another business transaction. It’s about showing genuine interest towards the person.
In Nursing, I learned that implementation is only as good as your assessment. Assessment is the first step since you have to be able to know the history, precipitating factors, and current status. In business and in life, it’s not that much different. Human interactions require some kind of assessment so that we’re able to interact in a more sincere and intentional way.
Each person has unique needs and thus there is no one blueprint that people can use to solve each other’s problems. Even though these problems might look the same, the experience is different. Naturally, the course of action would not be the same for everyone. We can either follow what people say or we could follow our own path based on what we know to be true for us.
